Forums terms of service

To use the CIEP forums you must be a current or retired member of the CIEP.

All members using the CIEP forums are expected to be familiar with and adhere to the CIEP Membership Codes and in particular the General Code of Conduct, which also outlines how we will deal with complaints under the policy.

As a user of the CIEP forums, you take full responsibility for your own posts. Avoid making statements that could cause serious harm to the reputation of any individual or organisation. Comments posted on CIEP forums are the opinions of those who post and not necessarily those of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.

All posts should contain your full name in your signature, to prevent confusion.

Always treat fellow members of the CIEP with courtesy and respect, whether replying to them on the forums or when following up points raised on CIEP forums in private correspondence.

Messages sent via the CIEP private messages system are intended for the addressees only, and such messages may contain information that is privileged and confidential. When posting in the forums, do not share the substance of such messages unless you have permission to do so.

Likewise, when posting in the forums, do not quote from private correspondence received outside of the forums, whether from a member or otherwise, unless you have permission to do so or have taken steps to secure the author's confidentiality.

In either case, if the author is a CIEP member and a message you have received is or could be contrary to the CIEP's Membership Codes, you may share that content with other parties in private for the purposes of seeking support or making a complaint.

If you take any action in reliance on any posting in a CIEP forum, you do so at your own risk.
