Having used a professional developmental editor for my novel and found that to be a game changer in improving the manuscript, I selected Sharon Rutland for the next stage of copy line/proof editing.

Sharon did an excellent ‘Five Star’ job, all within the time frame and budget. As well as picking up my (all too numerous) punctuation errors, she addressed inconsistencies in style, POVs, and presentation.

Sharon pointed out instances where the meaning was not obvious and would benefit from more clarity or alternatively, suggested deletion of redundant words/phrases to improve flow. I agreed with virtually all of her suggested changes without ever feeling that my style of storytelling had been compromised.

I recommend Sharon’s services as a professional editor and would happily collaborate with her again on any similar project.

A high-level, experienced editor will make all the difference to a book's quality and chances for success. My previous editor(s) provided by my ex-publisher were little more than proofreaders. Sharon Rutland is on the opposite end of that scale. Beyond question, her talent and eye for detail made my book far better than it would ever have been, both from the grammar/usage/style perspective, but also because she understands the genre completely, which is so important. Professionalism in every respect was evident from our first conversation, and her approach to editing was cordial and clear. I felt at ease and not threatened or bullied, making the process a pleasure and not a frustrating grind. Any English major can be a grammar hammer, but guiding an author through an often trying experience with skill and creativity is what sets Sharon apart from others. I rely on and trust her judgement implicitly. She will absolutely be requested for all future collaborations - I won't try to fix what isn't broken! I recommend Sharon with 100% confidence.
