About Sarah

Featured

I specialise in copy-editing academic work, particularly in the fields of history, archaeology, and literature, and am familiar with the main referencing systems in arts, humanities and social sciences (e.g. Harvard, MHRA, Chicago) as well as adapted styles for individual books, journals, and theses. As a published medieval historian and archaeologist, I am familiar with the processes of researching, writing, and preparing texts for publication as well as writing grant applications.
I have considerable experience of language editing the work of non-native English speakers both for monographs and volumes of collected essays prior to submission to a publisher in order to ensure a consistent standard of written English.
I have significant experience of editing work from outside my main areas of expertise: firstly, through my role as the academic editor of Northern Studies, the interdisciplinary journal of the Scottish Society for Northern Studies, which focuses on the connections between Scandinavia and Scotland from the medieval to the modern eras, and secondly, through my professional work as an editor for academic publishers such as Brepols and Boydell as well as individual academics.
