About Lisa

I'm an experienced copy-editor, proofreader and editorial consultant for academic publishers and authors in the Humanities. With a decade of experience in academic publishing, I've worked both in-house in various capacities and as a freelancer, giving me valuable insight into editorial and production processes from multiple perspectives. As well as copy-editing books and articles for publishers such as Cambridge University Press and Routledge, I also regularly review samples by other copy-editors to provide feedback and prepare briefs for complex projects.

I have professional editing training from the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, a BA in French Studies from the University of London Institute in Paris and an MA in Translation and Interpreting Studies from the University of Manchester. Since achieving my MA I now also offer translation of academic texts, fiction, non-fiction and scripts from French to English.

I'm confident working with both UK and US English, as well as other regional variants such as Canadian and Australian English, and am familiar with style guides such as Hart's, Butcher's, Chicago Manual of Style, Harvard and APA. My portfolio can be viewed on my website.
