I'm a freelance academic copyeditor with over 12 years' experience, working in the areas of linguistics, education, psychology and the humanities.
I regularly copyedit journal articles for multilingual academics who speak English as a second or additional language. My subject specialisms are psychology and linguistics, and I'm happy to work on any text within education, the social sciences and humanities.
I've copyedited hundreds of books, which have been published by Cambridge University Press, Routledge, Manchester University Press, UCL Press, Critical Publishing and Practical Inspiration Publishing.
I also offer a thesis proofreading service for postgraduate students, specialising in linguistics and the social sciences.
Please visit my website for further information on the services I offer.
Following a PhD in sociolinguistics, I trained in copyediting and proofreading with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and the Publishing Training Centre.
I can edit according to any style guide (e.g. New Hart's Rules, APA, Chicago Manual of Style, MLA), and I regularly edit in both UK English and US English.
I'm friendly to deal with and enjoy working with authors. Over my career, I've been lucky to edit really interesting texts. Please feel free to contact me – look forward to working with you!
I set up my editorial business in 2012. Since then, I've been lucky to work on hundreds of projects, ranging from books and journal articles to postgraduate theses and dissertations. Prior to my editing career, I studied for a PhD in sociolinguistics.
My clients include:
BA, English Language with Linguistics (University of Sheffield, 2003)
MA, Historical Language Studies (University of Sheffield, 2005)
PhD, Sociolinguistics (University of Sheffield, 2011)
