Nottingham, UK - but I work with clients all over the world
I’ve built my career as a freelance editor and proofreader working with both indie clients and traditional publishers, including Pan Macmillan, Tor, Rebellion, Solaris, Erewhon, Nobrow Press, Flying Eye Books, and Osprey Games. I offer a range of editing services from developmental feedback to a final proofread of your manuscript or board game components – so no matter what you’re looking for, I can help!
In my spare time, I’m a huge fan of fantasy / horror / graphic novels / games / all things geek. When I’m not editing, you can find me reading, writing, playing on my PS5 (Skyrim, again?!), or scheming on behalf of my D&D characters.

Here's what some of my clients have to say about working with me:
“I engaged Kate primarily as a copyeditor/proofreader. She was a good communicator both in email and within the document, careful and thorough, asked good questions and made excellent suggestions, and took pains not to impose personal tastes or interests on the work. It was very helpful working with someone who was experienced with horror as she took the text on its own terms and did not flinch.
She kept to the timeline that she proposed, and I felt her fee was fair given the nature of the work, and the highly professional result. I would definitely consult her on other projects in future. She was a pleasure to work with.”
David Demchuk – author of “The Bone Mother"
“I can’t recommend Kate enough. She was quick, thorough, and she adapted to my narrator’s voice so that her suggestions never felt out of place. She provided me with all the feedback and tools I needed to clean up my manuscript. I can’t wait to work with her again on my next project!”
Alistair Caradec – author of LGBTQ+ dystopian novel, “The Old Love and the New"
“I spent weeks trying to find a proofreader that met my needs and was about to give up when I found Kate. She was perfectly aligned with the skillset I needed, and I was blown away by the quality of her work. She went above and beyond anything I was expecting. Her suggestions showed how well she understood the story and what I was trying say. There wasn’t one suggestion she made that I did not change. It has been a pleasure to work with her and any work that I do in the future will immediately go to her. I can’t recommend her enough.”
Fabrizio Aiello– creator of the Horace H. Hoover comic book series
“Kate did a wonderful job with editing and proofreading the rules for our board game. We are impressed by her attention to detail and how she managed to bring the rules across in a precise, yet an easily understandable way. She also provided us with her own invaluable thoughts and ideas, which we greatly appreciate. We are looking forward to working with her again in the near future!“
Tickle Bear Games – creators of “Somewhere Under the Rainbow"
“TL;DR This is the editor you want and need. We’ve worked together on eight published works so far in the Fantasy and LitRPG genres. Her edits were impeccable and her suggestions to the point and just suggestions. Never during our working together did I feel like she tried to overpower my voice. On the contrary, she was very objective and gave great advice both in the fiction elements as well as the pesky LitRPG mechanics that might get out of hand if not documented properly. The deliveries were always on time and I am definitely going to work with her again in the future.”
Dimitrios Gkirgkiris – author of the Apocosmos LitRPG series
