Experience

I have worked continuously for over 30 years on French, German, Italian and TEFL publications for schools and adult education. These projects often involve editing multi-author and multi-component publications, and benefit from proactive teamwork with authors, designers and co-editors.

I have expertise in editing for higher education: for the University of York, I regularly edit undergraduate and postgraduate prospectuses and annual reports, and proofread reports for research teams and departments.

I set up a team of freelancers providing proofreading services for Niche Health and Social Care Consulting, proofreading their independent investigations and reviews commissioned by the NHS.

Before launching my freelance career in 1993, I worked in-house for two London-based publishers.
BBC Languages: as managing editor of the brand-new BBC Languages Unit (in 1992–93), I took books and audio recordings from draft MS through to publication, managing freelance editors and working alongside TV/radio/audio producers. I worked on The French Experience, Italianissimo, German/French/Spanish means business, Turkish/Arabic phrase books and others.
Mary Glasgow Publications: working for this renowned specialist MFL educational publisher (in 1989-92) gave me first-class training and experience of copyediting and the whole production process.

I have worked with Jenny on French and German projects for Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including textbooks, homework books, revision guides and assessment resources. Jenny is an experienced and thoughtful editor, who is undaunted by complicated projects and briefs and always enthusiastic about creating the best possible language-learning resources. I enjoy working with her.
Development editor at an educational publisher

I have worked with Jenny on many of my books. Her professionalism and extreme attention to detail made her the ideal editor for the author in search of peace of mind! I couldn't recommend Jenny enough to publishers and other authors.
Danièle Bourdais, FrenchMatters Ltd
Freelance author, consultant, editor, translator and tutor

I worked with Jenny on an IB French Workbook project. She was extremely patient and flexible, carrying out a number of tasks from development editing to proofreading and rights+permissions management. Jenny has both a keen eye for detail and the ability to make overarching suggestions that improve the consistency and flow of content.
