About Jack

I worked for over ten years for a publishing company in Tokyo, where I copyedited and proofread papers in the physical sciences, particularly chemistry, physics, engineering and materials science. More recently, I’ve moved into general non-fiction, and I currently copyedit and proofread popular non-fiction books for three UK publishers, including one of the Big Five.

I adopt a collaborative approach to working with clients. I welcome the chance to have a video chat before starting a job to establish their needs and whether I can meet them, and provide regular progress updates during the job, highlighting any issues that arise and suggesting solutions. Clients find me very approachable and also comment on my understanding of the overall themes of their writing as well as my ‘hawk-like’ ability to notice mistakes.

My proofreading service will ensure that your writing is free from grammatical and spelling errors, redundancy, inconsistencies in the terminology and formatting, and awkward phrasing.

My copyediting service takes a deeper dive into your work, stress-testing it for factual accuracy and sense and ensuring that the wording is appropriate for your readers while retaining your unique voice.

Please get in contact by email if you’re interested in working with me.
