About Emily

About

I'm Emily Kopieczek and I own Edits by Emily.

I am a highly organised and detail-oriented editorial professional, with seven years' experience working in-house for educational publishers. I deliver copyediting, proofreading, editorial project management and digital reviewing services to publishers and creators of educational content.

I specialise in editing for English Language Teaching (ELT) courses. In addition to formal copyediting and proofreading training, I also hold the CELTA and APM PMQ qualifications.

I am an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).

I worked at Macmillan Education for five years; starting as an Editorial Coordinator, then moving on to Managing Editor, then Senior Managing Editor. In these roles, I was an editorial project manager for ELT print and digital components. Prior to this, I was at Taylor & Francis for nearly two years, working as a Production Editor responsible for a large list of UK and US Education and Psychology textbooks. My in-house publishing experience has given me a wealth of expertise in editorial processes.

Testimonials

'I was extremely pleased with the copyeditor (Emily Kopieczek) who was assigned to work with me on this book. She was very competent and efficient, and communicated with me all the way through the copyediting process. She was meticulous and quick. It was gratifying to work with her. Thank you!'

Mojdeh Bayat, Author, Addressing Challenging Behaviors and Mental Health Issues in Early Childhood, 2nd Edition, Routledge, 2020

'Emily brought a supportive attitude, experienced eye and a ton of knowledge to all the projects we worked together on. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her and hope we can work together again in the future!'

Anna Kotowicz, Commissioning Editor, Macmillan Education

'I worked with Emily Kopieczek for five years at Macmillan Education, during which time she progressed from Editorial Coordinator to Managing Editor and, in December 2017, to Senior Managing Editor. Emily has a broad range of editorial experience and training under her belt, which has given her an impressive skillset. She's an effective project manager who can coordinate large teams to deliver complex publishing projects incorporating both print and digital components on time and on budget. She has a keen editorial and design eye, but never overlooks the commercial imperative. Emily was a key member of my department. She's a pleasure to work with, calm in a crisis and always holds on to her wry sense of humour. I have no hesitation in recommending Emily as someone who can be relied upon to get the job done.'

David Norris, Editorial Manager, Macmillan Education
