Editing: Freelance editor since 1999; editorial assistant, Information Retrieval, 1978–79. Biology and medical subject editing  to academic research level. Other sciences including mathematics and physics editing to A level.

Medical Scientist for Medical Research Council and Francis Crick Institute until 2019, research into infection and immunity, human studies on tuberculosis, influenza. and other respiratory diseases.
