I specialise in editing scientific, technical and medical (STM) material and text written by non-native English speakers. With extensive experience of editing, proofreading and editorial project management, an in-depth knowledge of the publishing process and an established network of professional contacts, I thrive on meeting the highest quality standards within the constraints of a deadline.
During my in-house publishing services career I led on a wide range of publications for eminent STM publishers and many high-profile public sector and government organisations, including several European Union agencies, usually on projects with a tight turnaround. My expertise lies mostly in academic books and journals, but I am equally comfortable handling reports or web copy, and although I specialise in science and medicine I am happy to work with many other subjects, such as humanities and social sciences.
Trained in journalism, I am also a confident copy-writer and have written web copy, speeches and magazine and journal articles on wide-ranging topics, with particular experience of writing and editing for health and social care audiences.
Whether I am copy-editing a highly illustrated multi-author textbook or writing a short web page, I hugely enjoy working with others to create a finished product and I consider it a privilege to be involved in any part of the publishing process.
