I am an experienced editor/proofreader and owner of ASG Editorial, which I established in 2017 after nearly three decades in newspaper publishing.
Before setting up my editorial business, I worked for 27 years as a newspaper and magazine sub-editor/production editor – both freelance and in-house. As a result, I am skilled at working to deadlines, fact-checking and rewriting (only where necessary).
Now, most of my work is book editing – fiction and non-fiction – although I'm happy to take on smaller projects such as blog posts, short stories, novellas and factual guides.
I am an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading and abide by the Code of Practice. I can assure you of a respectful editor/client relationship and high-quality work delivered to agreed deadlines.
I am happy to look at a sample of your work and chat about the level of service you need. Please email me or fill in the contact form on my website: asgeditorial.co.uk.

testimonials
“Anne, thank you so much – you have been such a great help with writing my book.
“Your clear understanding of the English language gained over many years as a professional editor, freelance writer and proofreader has proved invaluable – I am not sure how I could have done it without you.”
P.J. Griffiths, author
I love it! You have all the best words. Thank you so much. I would never have been able to put it so well myself.
Victoria Walters, Healthy You, Healthy Planet
Your press release resulted in two lead articles in my local paper, and now I’m writing a regular column for them. You are really talented. I will be calling on your proofreading services when I finish my next book.
Karen Bromley, Maya Wellbeing
Anne has really assisted me with my draft manuscript. She provided both the amended clean copy of my work and the original work with corrections, which made it easy to review.
“She kept me updated throughout her copy-edit so I was aware when I could anticipate the work would be returned. I found her alterations really enhanced my manuscript and were in keeping with the style of the prose so the original author keeps their own voice.
Siobhan Davies, creative writer
