I am a qualified freelance copy-editor and proofreader with more than fifteen years' experience.
After living in London for more than forty years and balancing freelance editorial work with other employment, I moved to the south of Italy in 2017 and became a full-time copy-editor and proofreader. It’s definitely warmer out here, and with several rescue cats and dogs (read about them all here: Twiglet and Crew), it seems there is no rest for the wicked.
I trained with The Publishing Training Centre and the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, and I work with publishers, literary consultancies and self-publishing authors.
I can be flexible and adapt to your requirements: I work on hard copy using the British Standards Institution symbols (BS 5261C:2005), and I edit on screen using Track Changes in Word or annotations on PDF.

testimonials
Anna has garnered praise and gratitude from the authors and editors whose work she’s copy-edited for me; they’ve appreciated her sharp editorial eye, her ability to tactfully suggest desirable changes and her dogged precision, down to the last punctuation mark in the last entry on the last page of the reference list! As an in-house production editor, I love working with someone who can be counted on to do her best no matter what task I hand her, and to let me know when she needs more information. She makes my life easier on every project, and I hope we’ll work together for a long time to come.
V. Dharmapala. Bristol University Press & Policy Press.
Anna is a careful and thorough proofreader, with a wonderfully positive attitude. She has been of considerable help to us, particularly when a project has been delayed and the time for proofreading is under pressure.
K.A. Farrell. Sandstone Press
Working with Anna has been a pleasure from start to finish. She has an excellent, unrivalled eye for the smallest detail and is punctual, friendly and efficient.
M. Leventhal. Greenhill Books and Green Bean Books
TLC has been working with Anna on a referral basis for three years now, and she has always been punctual in responding, professional in her conduct and a delight to work with. She provides a high level of copy-editing and proofreading service for a variety of genres and writers, which is invaluable in such a diverse and broad publishing landscape. I never hesitate to send writers Anna's way, and would thoroughly recommend her as an editor.
J. Sedgwick. The Literary Consultancy
Anna has always been extremely fast, efficient and helpful. We were a hundred percent confident that she would deliver through the process and she even gave us more than she originally offered. Very professional.
M Mitchell. Less Magazine
Anna has been involved with two of my recent publishing ventures. Both occasions demanded a fast, sensitive and accurate response – Anna responded brilliantly to this challenge, allowing myself and my designer to concentrate on other matters. Her engagement was absolute and crucial to the success of both books. She is meticulous and generous with advice, and her changes were clearly noted. I have no hesitation in recommending her to potential clients.
M. Howard. Author
I'm heartily grateful to Anna for her endeavour and commitment during her copy-edit of The Louise Fawley Symphony. Anna brought empathy, humour and enthusiasm to the process, and I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with her. The Louise Fawley Symphony is a smoother, sleeker read thanks to Anna's constructive suggestions and corrections. I will not hesitate to invite her to copy-edit any sequel.
