About
I am a freelance proofreader who has now worked on over 500 academic books and journal articles. I have worked for a number of publishers and publishing agencies on a wide and diverse amount of subject matter, ranging from punk rock to theology. I have also copy-edited several scientific journal articles, ranging from genetic profile studies to life science reports.
I can work to tight deadlines and am comfortable working with authors who have English as a second language. I have just been added to the Standards and Testing Agency panel for Quality Assurance of National Curriculum tests for the Department of Education.
I am very happy to work on any subject matter and particularly specialise in music, sport, politics and history.
Experience
I have been freelance since May 2014, having previously worked as a chiropodist and before that as a banking customer services manager in the City of London.
Media
I started by proofreading both hard copy, including blind and against a manuscript, and onscreen. Most of my work is now onscreen and I work mainly on Word documents and PDF documents, although I have done numerous projects on Adobe Acrobat and am now beginning to edit live documents online.
