Services for authors
Whether you're planning on sending your precious manuscript out to literary agents or intending to go down the self-publishing route, I can help you get ready.
I'll check the spelling, grammar, punctuation and consistency of your manuscript, and make suggestions for improving sense, flow and tone and avoiding repetition. Working in Word, I'll use 'Track changes' to make these suggestions which you can then decide whether or not to accept.
I am very happy to look at a sample of your work to gauge the level of editing required and to show you how I can help, and from there we can fine-tune exactly what you need.

Services for businesses
Everyone makes typos. Often we're so close to the material we're working on that we see what we think should be there rather than what's actually there. But even the smallest of errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation can distract your audience and undermine your business's credibility.
The more collaborators there are on your marketing materials and important reports, the more risk of introducing new errors, inconsistencies and repetition. It can be harder – and time consuming – to streamline your message, making it flow in the clearest way possible and in a consistent tone.
This is where I can help! I specialise in helping businesses and organisations fine-tune and enhance their important communications, reports, marketing materials and thought leadership.
As a fresh pair of skilled eyes, I can help ensure clarity and professionalism in your communications and free up your time and resources to add value elsewhere.

Testimonials
'Alice edited my first attempt at writing a book and improved it immeasurably. She sorted out where I'd got tenses mangled and repeated words too much, etc. But, more importantly, she rephrased sections, suggested different ways of organising some of the passages, and re-worked elements that I'd never have thought of but read so much better. The crucial element though is that it was still my book and my voice. Alice got my style – and polished it up without losing it. This is a real skill and a huge value add.'
Jon Calpin, author of Great Project Management: A Quick Guide
'Thank you – this is SUPERB. I've accepted 99.9% of all the changes. It's much tighter and 'lighter' (in a positive way!). I really do appreciate your eye for detail and ability to deliver brevity and clarity to our communications and thought leadership.'
John McCarthy, Chief Marketing Officer, Kantar Media
'Alice helped me proofread and edit my first book. She took my very rough draft and made it all hang together, fixing typos and grammatical errors, as well as applying judgement and intelligence to ensure consistency throughout the book. She also helped me massage the book cover blurb and sub-head so that it worked better. Thanks to her, I now feel confident that I have a professional product that I am happy to put out into the world.'
Lissa Collier, author of Big Girl Pants
'Being a dyslexic Scotsman who not only wrote sentences back to front but in my own Scots language, with little or no punctuation, I sent my manuscript off to Alice who diligently and meticulously edited it. Her eye for detail and consistency was impeccable – so much so that I now have a book to be proud of. I strongly recommend her without reserve.'
Pete Laird, author of Call Me Finn
'I couldn’t wait to see Alice’s work on my manuscript and was blown away by how much she had improved it. It was genius. And yet, importantly, it was still very much my own voice. She returned the manuscript to me quickly and was very supportive throughout the whole process. I recommend Alice wholeheartedly.'
Nick Warren, author
'We've used Alice's copy-editing and proofreading expertise to fine-tune important materials and communications for high-profile client events. I can always trust that she will be extremely thorough with excellent attention to detail. She is fast to respond, and able to work within our tight turnaround times which at crunch time during the event-planning process is extremely important and takes a lot of pressure off the team.'
Catherine Graves, Kantar Media
'You're amazing, everything is perfect and I've gone with every one of your recommendations! Thank you so much! Here's my next chapter for you to sprinkle your magic on.'
